What this does not do
What Ragulika cannot do, stated plainly. A docketing tool that hides its limits is more dangerous than no tool at all.
Ragulika does not watch the register for you
Ragulika works from the details you enter and the documents you upload. It does not poll the register in the background, and it will never present a status as current when nothing new has been supplied. When a record goes stale, Ragulika says so and asks you for the update rather than assuming nothing has changed.
Deadlines are only as good as the dates behind them
Every calculated date depends on the trigger date it runs from. Where that date is derived rather than officially verified, the deadline is labelled as needing confirmation and should be treated as provisional.
Extensions are discretionary, not guaranteed
Where a period can be extended or a delay condoned, Ragulika shows you the latest date on which relief could be sought. Granting it is at the Controller's discretion and carries a fee. Ragulika always counts down to the original statutory date, never to the extension.
Deadlines do not roll to the next working day
The e-filing portal operates continuously and electronic filing is mandatory for patent agents, so the usual next-working-day relief has little to bite on. Ragulika computes the true statutory date and warns you when it falls on a weekend or holiday rather than silently moving it.
Procedure changes
Indian patent procedure is amended from time to time. Ragulika holds each period with the date from which it applies, so an application keeps the position that was in force when its triggering event occurred. Even so, check current procedure before acting on anything consequential.
